Alcohol Abuse vs. Crime Rates

Brainstorming
  • low income vs. delayed retirement
  • hours of sleep vs. work habits
  • abuse of drugs vs. students average
  • family violence vs. alcohol abuse
  • spousal abuse vs. divorce rate

Question
  • Does alcohol abuse have a correlation with crime rates in Canada? (2003-2008)

external image alcohol.jpg VS. external image bailbond-handcuffs.jpg

Variables
  • Independant- alcohol consumption (x)
  • Dependant- crime rates (y)

Hypothesis
  • I believe that the more alcohol you consume to the point of abuse, crime rates will increase.

Information
  • When people consume alcohol to the point of abuse, they have less control over their actions, which could cause them to make reckless decisions. I'm trying to prove this statement.

Raw Data

Sampling Technique and Bias
The data was collected using a simple random sample. This is a sampling bias because not every member of the population will be asked.
